While the groove of country music today can become a rut, the latest recording of LEWIS & EVANS on steel guitar is a true groove. Lewis & Evans latest CD, “Candle Light Country” is rich in traditional style and what country music is all about. As a fan of the duo since their first recording “Live in Las Vegas” a decade ago, I have listened to these two music makers both live and their recordings, which always give one an understanding of how much time they have spent together both on stage and in the studio. Their music is pumped from the heart with no bypasses, and your ears will hear something special. Buzz’s instrumental solo on Glen Campbell’s hit, Wichita Lineman, is an excellent example of his masterful petal steel playing, and his guitar sounds so uniquely paralleled to that sound. Listening to Ross’s rendering on the Etta James hit, “At Last”, one get’s the feeling of the depth of a standard with a country induced sound. Strike a match, light a candle, and enjoy these impressive arrangements and renderings of their music.
